“Hey, did you hear Whitey Bulger got arrested?” My mom asked that question probably 50 times this weekend at a family party. After number 51 I got a little annoyed, but she was trying to make a point. Maybe, just … Continue reading →
Happy Patriots Day friends! For those of you running the marathon, good luck, for those of you watching, drink up, and for you poor saps like me who are working…well, beer later? While I myself have no interest in ever … Continue reading →
First Fridays are an integral part of the SOWA Artists Guild mission. The aim is to give visitors access to the artists in their element – to offer a different and more personal way to experience art firsthand. By opening their working space to the public, the SOWA Artists Guild hopes to give people an avenue for viewing quality contemporary art that complements yet goes beyond the gallery experience. I just got off of the phone with a friend who had to move back to her parent’s house and told me I should write a blog post about “how to date when living at home”. This totally brought me … Continue reading →
In case you missed it… Ben Roethlisberger, the Pittsburg Steelers quarterback, was given a 6 game suspension from the NFL Commissioner. Why? Well, Ben was accused of sexual assault on a 20 year old female in Georgia. And the kicker? This isn’t the first time a woman has accused Big Ben of sexual assault. Here’s the thing. Ben was never charged with the assault. But he was never charged, not because he didn’t do it, but because the female victim was unwilling to testify. Continue reading →
I know that there has been way too much talk about Tiger Woods and until now I have kept my opinion to myself. I have never really liked Tiger or watching golf for that matter, but Tiger’s golfing ability has been intriguing. His coolness under pressure and knack for winning on the biggest stages is the one reason I have followed him as an athlete.
I used to wonder how he was so clam, cool, and collected when playing golf. It seemed like nothing could rattle him from his game. How does one learn to be so great when facing adversity? I now have the answer, HE’S NOT HUMAN!
Did you know that for the first time in 16 appearances at the Masters Tiger opened the tournament by shooting under 70? Yes, that is right he shot a 68… Continue reading →
Alright… I’ve gotta tell this story. It involves my mom, a couple of cocktails, a large projection screen, a Twitter feed and a fist bump with an unsuspecting lesbian. Yeah, that’s pretty much my life.
Ok, so setting the stage… My lovely mother purchased tickets to Movers and Shakers, a Boston Center for the Arts Event at the Cyclorama, so the two of us could spend some quality time together. Well, wasn’t it a pleasant surprise when Bella Luna, home of the Milky Way, which hosts many-a-gay-night in Jamaica Plain, was there as one of the contenders for the best cocktail contest the BCA was hosting. Needless to say, with Bella Luna came some wonderful queer ladies. So… lots of people all dressed up, a handful of lesbians, and my mom and I, all of whom were throwing back fancy cocktails in a gigantic room with crazy art portraits on the walls. Can you picture it?… Continue reading →
Ok, so I’m definitely one of the fortunate bunch who managed to snag tickets to the Red Sox’s opening day. First time I’ve ever been to opening day or to a home Red Sox vs. Yankees game and it was… well… totally awesome. I mean come on… the perfect weather and the comeback win. Amazing.
From start to finish I was enthralled. The combination of little Josh Sacco’s Miracle speech and Neil Diamond’s ridiculous jacket. I mean, if you didn’t totally love it, you had to be at least mildly entertained. If you didn’t catch the speech from the little 5 year old you should check it out. I know some people thought it was inappropriate, but I thought it was pretty awesome. I could have done without Steven Tyler’s awful rendition of God Bless America though… just saying… Continue reading →
I recently went indoor rock climbing, it was my first time climbing and I found it to be both really fun and a great work out. Days later I could barley lift my arms over my head. Actually, my forearms are currently burning as I type this blog.
All in all, I not only had a great time but also got an amazing workout. I only wish this place was a little closer to Boston. I’ve heard there are some places around here but not as high and without as much square footage (if I’m wrong here… feel free to let me know! I’d love recommendations). For all of you climbers out there: here’s a snippet of what Carbiner’s has to offer: 65’ high main walls with overhanging roofs, cracks, flakes, huecos, arêtes, slabs and stalactites… Continue reading →
The bad news is my bracket is busted. Good new is this has been the most exhilarating two rounds of upsets and buzzer beaters March Madness has ever seen. Did you catch the outrageous 3-pointer by Northern Iowa’s Ali Farokhmanseh to clinch the tournament’s biggest upset? Continue reading →
