Inn Motion

Inn Motion began in the spring of 2011 when four friends, armed with women’s studies degrees and members of the LGBTQQI community, were looking for a way to put their skills into practice. Familiar with the unusually high rates of homelessness faced by LGBTQQI youth and living in the climate of an LGBTQQI youth suicide epidemic, the need for community visibility and support was clear. They put their plan in place and Inn Motion was just that…in motion.

The goal of Inn Motion is to open an overnight community center for LGBTQ youth in the Boston area that will serve as a temporary housing option for homeless youth while they are looking for permanent housing. They want to create a safe space for people to gather, hang out, and just…be. They also plan on making other resources available by partnering with other organizations and local groups and provide workshops and do outreach events.

Inn Motion is committed to social justice initiatives and a better world for all members of the LGBTQQI community and their allies. They recognize the importance of empowering youth so that they may be effective agents of change. Supportive community, strong visible role models, and safe stable housing are critical to fostering this future.
